Q // Who are you?
Todd Tobey

Q // How did you get into photography?
I have always been interested in the arts. Photography is the perfect way for me to express my creativity and capture the beauty of the natural world.

Q // Why did you choose to use Flickr?
I came across flickr by chance and was impressed with the quality of images on the site. I signed up and started to post a some of my own work. Interacting with other photographers on flickr has inspired me to try new things and grow as a photographer.

Q // What sort of equipment and software do you use?
I own a canon 40D and recently purchased a canon 5d mark ll. I have several L series canon lenses ranging from 16mm to 300mm. I initially used apple aperture for my digital processing and storage. I purchased photoshop cs4 and photomatix pro in september 2009. I am currently using cs4 and photomatix for most of my photo editing work and still use aperture for storing and managing my images. I have much to learn when it comes to post-processing.

Q // What is your opinion on post-processing, especially enhancing pictures?
I am intrigued by post processing. As I said, I have much to learn in the post processing department. I look at photography as an art form. I am more concerned with the finished product. All the processing or enhancing in the world cannot turn a bad photograph into a great piece of art. If I can find a way to improve one of my photos, I am all for it!

Q // Where is your favourite location to take pictures? ( Seascape // Landscape // Cityscape …. ? )
Anywhere in the natural world. I love landscapes, waterscapes and would love to try my hand at cityscapes.

Q // Where is the most spectacular place you’ve ever been?
Unfortunately, my current work and family status does not allow extensive travel. I would love to travel the world with my camera.

Q // What would you say to other enthusiast photographers out there who aspires to what you’ve achieved?
Be persistent and don’t be afraid to try new things. Keep an open mind and photograph things that you are passionate about.

Q // Are you going to consider a career in photography for future ?
I would love to sell some of my work… I will continue to build my portfolio, who knows maybe I will get lucky!
